Again the club ladies put together another super spread of food. There was a large raffle. Our next live music event is October 18th 2024 again with David Last.

An excellent spread of food was provided by the ladies of the Committee plus Joyce, Gwen and Norma.

Sid and Norma provided a litre of Baileys each which were enjoyed and finished by the thirsty dancers. Our next event is the Coronation Party on the 5th May.

Platinum Jubilee Celebratory Dance 3rd June 2022

Attendees suitably attired.

Cove Sequence Dance Club decided to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a Party Dance featuring music popular in the 50’s along with some dances from the era such as the Freda Foxtrot (1951), Waltz for the Queen (1953) and the Mayfair Quickstep (1956). Dancers were appropriately addressed for the occasion in red, white and blue. The event was well attended despite it being holiday season. The Committee provided tea and cakes for the interval break. A loyal toast to the Queen was made with sparkling wine. The party finished with the Platinum Waltz danced to David Read’s specially written tune for the Jubilee.

Cove Sequence Dance Club’s Spring Dance with Larry Green – May 13th 2022

We were very lucky to book Larry Green for our additional spring dance before he retired. It was a sold out event and Larry helped create a wonderful atmosphere with his music. He will be missed on the dance circuit. Tea and cakes were provided by the Committee who excelled themselves as usual. Larry was presented with a bottle of wine and his wife Kim, a bouquet of flowers from the Club. We can only hope he reconsiders his retirement and stays on the circuit.

Cove Sequence Dance Club’s 74th Anniversary Dance – April 1st 2022

We celebrated Cove SDC’s 74th Anniversary on April 1st 2022 with a dance. It was also our Leaders, Hilary & Nigel’s Golden Wedding Anniversary and they were presented with many cards and gifts including a lovely basket of flowers from the Club. It was very well attended with 44 out of a Covid restricted maximum of 45 attending; one person unfortunately having to cancel on the day through ill health.

In the interval, the Club provided copious refreshments of cakes, sandwiches, scones and sausage rolls prepared Covid securely. A great deal of “catching up gossip” took place. David Last provided outstanding music for the afternoon; you can’t beat “live music”. Unfortunately it is still not safe enough to recommence progressive dances. Photos of the event are shown below. Hopefully membership numbers will hold up for the Club to survive for many more years.

Our next “live music” event is on Friday May 13th at 14:30 with Larry Green. This will be one of his last performances before he retires.

Christmas Dance December 17th 2021

Our 2021 Christmas Dance, despite Covid limited numbers, was a great success. David Last was superb really letting rip where he could and introducing a menagerie of animals in “Away in the Manger” & “Little Donkey”. You can’t beat live music. Excellent refreshments were provided with especial thanks to Lisa and Helen for the wonderful cakes. Hilary’s Special Birthday was also celebrated with a lovely cake provided by Lisa and flowers and champagne provided by the club. Thank you dancers for your support over a difficult 6 months with Covid restrictions. Photos of the event are featured below. Our next live music event is with David Last on the 1st April 2022. Let’s hope the “Government” allows dancing to continue.

Our First Live Event Following Lockdown – 17th September 2021

Cove had its first live event following lockdown on the 17th September 2021. Excellent live music was provided for free by David Smith to support the club leaders and the club in recovery from lockdown.

Full attendance (to the Covid restricted level) was achieved and the afternoon generated an almost normal pre-covid happy atmosphere although progressive dancing is still not permitted in the club. Our grateful thanks go to David Smith in his support for this event.

Our next live event is with David Last on the 17th December.

On Saturday, the 14th August, Sheilagh and Freddy Goodwin belatedly celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary with over 90 of their friends, relatives and family at the Bordon Masonic Hall.  Their actual Anniversary was on the 6th May but Covid restrictions forced the postponement of the celebrations several times.  Sheilagh and Freddy are long time members of Cove Sequence Dance Club, Summertime Dancing and the Old Time Dance Society.  We wish them all the best for the future and a continued long dancing life together.
